Arizona Biker Leathers

Arizona Biker Leathers is known throughout AriZona and beyond, for their expert stitching and fine quality leather goods.
This is a family owned and operated business. Depending upon when you are there you’ll meet Ann, George, Ann’s dad ~ Dirty Old Man, son George & his wife Amber, and daughter Summer. She’s in the Army so she only gets to stop in while on leave, anymore.
They have firmly established themselves as the go-to shop when it comes to creating custom patches; for your organization, business, or pretty much any purpose you can think of. Over and above the many riding organizations that have chosen to have their patches embroidered here; AZBL has stitched insignia for car clubs, stables, ‘robot war’ contestants, & others. If you ever need a custom patch stitched, large or small, this is the place to contact. There is NO minimum order required, either. ALL of their stitching, ~ embroidery ~ patch sewing ~ alterations ~ and repairs, is done IN store. We’ve had patches made at AZ Biker Leathers over the years and have always been impressed by the quality of the work, the attention to details, the speed with which it is done, and the outstanding prices.
Need something to put those patches on? This store is home to 2800 square feet of high-quality leather in a wide variety of styles. Whether you are shopping for jackets, vests, or chaps you’ll find a look that suits you. New in the store includes a Men’s Jacket & a 10-pocket Men’s Vest; both with gun pockets ~ both in distressed dark brown leather. Ladies can shop for premium leather jackets just in time for the cool weather to be coming around.
With AriZona’s heat being a factor so much of the year, you’ll always find a good stock of denim vests here as well ~ in blue and black; with and without gun pockets. Styles include traditional (Levi), leather trimmed, no collar, and side laces.
Soft goods include lightweight & heavy gloves for men & women, plus ladies belt-loop clip bags. There is also a sizeable selection of hard leather goods such as tool bags, saddlebags, t-bags, & such.
AZ Biker Leathers has customers from across the country who have never set foot in their shop. Thanks to their eBay store, they can offer their competitive pricing and quality work to everyone. Their online reviews show a very happy customer base. AZBL is among the longest continuously operating biker leather businesses in the Valley of the Sun. They know what they are doing, they know what riders need, and they work hard to offer the biker community quality products at affordable prices.
Okay so after you’ve got your leathers all squared away… then there’s ALL those tee shirts! There’s a HUGE selection. After that you’ve got your pins, bells, eyewear, headwear, helmets, masks, bandanas, …
We can only scratch the surface when it comes to talking about what you’ll find at AZ Biker Leathers. BUT we can strongly suggest you make a visit. Any day is a good day to stop by their store, located at 13833 N 19th Avenue in Phoenix. That’s the NE corner of 19th Ave & Thunderbird. Their hours are Mon-Sat 9a-6pm & Sun 10a-4pm. Of course you can visit & shop online 24/7 via their website http://arizonabikerleathers.com/, or on Facebook at /arizonabikerleathers.
Now if you can, an ideal time to stop in is during their upcoming 12th Anniversary and Customer Appreciation Party. It’s always the 1st Saturday in December ~ that’s the 6th, this year. Hours are from noon ‘til 4pm. This is their annual party to thank everyone who has supported them over the years. There will be free food & drinkables, music, vendors, store specials, & more. It’s always a good time.
Need to know anything else? Call ‘em at 602-843-5847. Please mention you read about them here in AriZona Rider Motorcycle News.

Dentist - Dr Stephen Vital

Bright Shiny Choppers ... Okay, so these are teeth, not motorcycles. We know most folks would prefer to be reading about a new shop with all the chrome and fancy stuff they have to look at. BUT, when time comes and you need a dentist, you’ll be glad you were already introduced to Dr. Steve. Otherwise, you’ll be looking at the phone book or a list from your insurance provider. At that point, one name looks pretty much like another. Better to be familiar with someone before you need ‘em. Dr. Steve Vital has been a dentist for more than 24 years, receiving his credentials from Washington University at St Louis. Office manager Tamra has worked with Dr. Steve for more than eleven years. Dr Steve and all of his staff go through continuous education to keep up with the latest information in their fields. His office is located at 3505 E. Brown Rd., Suite 102 in Mesa, AZ. They accept pretty much all of the various insurance and dental plans except Cigna DHMO and Blue Cross / Blue Shield DHMO. Just check with them when you call in if you have any insurance-related questions.

Services provided include all the basics: cleanings, root canals, fillings, crowns, relieving tooth aches, etc. Cosmetic dentistry, including all ceramic crowns and natural fillings, is available. I can say from experience that Dr Steve and his staff are good at putting nervous patients at ease and making them comfortable. Procedures he uses make things about as painless as can be, too. We have both had work done by Dr. Steve and are pleased with the results.

They address patients’ specific concerns plus their overall dental health.

Dr Steve has been recognized by both the State of Arizona and the AZ Dental Association for volunteering

his services to ACTION DDS - Donated Dental Services.

This program is a humanitarian service to disabled, elderly, and medically-compromised people.

Dr Steve’s personal interests include riding motorcycles and flying his airplane. He estimates he’s been riding for about 20 years, off and on; and flying for about 15 years. He is a HOG chapter member and an American Legion Rider.

He enjoys finding new places to ride to. You know those ‘small-talk’ moments that you have to go through with a doctor? Well, it’s pretty cool to be able to talk bikes and such with someone who is also part of the riding community.

Office Hours are Monday through Thursday. {Friday? Gone riding!}

Dr. Steve and his staff practice ‘The Art of Dentistry’.

His website http://VitalDentistry.com/ outlines more of their services.

These people are knowledgeable and friendly, and genuinely care about their patients.

So when you’re looking for a dentist, give Dr. Steve a call at 480-924-6169.

Tell ‘em Bruce & Betsy sent ya.

Advertiser Review: HogWear

Click here to view story with photos

HogWear is home to HogWraps and Eye Candy. You’ve seen their booth at motorcycling events all around AriZona. Owned and operated by Theresa Ann & Mark Kalifut, this small business has been active in the motorcycling community vendor circuit since the summer of 2008.
They started out by offering HogWraps ‘the coolest wrap around’ ~ colorful neck ties filled with polymer crystals that, when soaked in water, swell and help keep us cool. We’ve all seen them & many, many of us use them. These cooling neck ties have helped many a biker make it through their hot summer rides. Being able to keep the blood flow to the brain cool in our intense summer heat is imperative for good health, plus it is a safety issue. Heat stress can cause disorientation and loss of ability to safely operate a vehicle and/or machinery. Be sure and add these cooling neck ties to your summer protection; along with a hat, sunscreen, and lots of drinking water.
Are you part of an organization that wants a creative way to fly your colors? Do you have a business that you want to promote? HogWraps can be custom-made to coordinate to your needs.
HogWraps are useful not only when riding your motorcycle. Hiking, gardening, golfing, fishing, just taking your pet for a walk… Once you use them, you’ll wonder how you got along in the summer without them. Speaking of pets, yes ~ you can even get HogWraps for them (and of course, they are called Dog Wraps). The wrap can be made in any color, size, and thickness to fit your four-legged friends.
But, what about when the summer passes and staying cool is low on the priorities? HogWear has broadened its inventory and now offers a collection of jewelry for men & women that is diverse and distinctive. Everything is lead-free & hypo-allergenic. Theresa Ann & Mark work to keep their stock fresh, continuously combing their resources for new items. Mark has a unique collection of Stainless Steel rings for men and women. Soft-goods include beautiful scarves and a very neat item that I must admit I love. I call them ‘instant sleeves’… arm wraps that stretch from wrist to shoulder, making any short-sleeve shirt into a long-sleeve. Those have been quite handy during this cool spell of weather we’re having. Their latest finds include dragon knives and engraved flasks. The flasks come with an automatic 10% discount on your next HogWear purchase, anytime, anywhere. Ask for details. HogWear also offers gift certificates. Does someone you know have a birthday coming up? Gift them a certificate from HogWear ~ and let them browse for themselves.
HogWear always sets up at Motorcycles on Main in Mesa, 1st Fridays. They will also be set up at CycleFest at WestWorld during Bike Week. Want to find out where else they’ll be set up? Want to invite them to set up at your next event?

Call 602-826-1587 or email Hogwear@live.com. They’re currently working to update their web presence.

You can find them online on Facebook.
Ride and Be Cool!

Advertiser Review: Motorcycles on Main

Click here to view story with photos

Motorcycles on Main is a Sturgis-style Bike Night that takes place on the first Friday of each month from 6-10pm on Main Street in downtown Mesa, AZ. It is a family friendly event organized by the Downtown Mesa Association, and sponsored by Chester’s Harley-Davidson and Victory of Mesa.

Road access is restricted to motorcycles only. I must admit I always love riding into town & seeing those ‘Special Event’ signs that detour cages and allow us to roll on.

Since the first MoM back in 2010, the event has grown continuously. Attendance over the last year has grown dramatically. According to Cori from DMA, even with the extreme heat this summer, MoM saw steady participation. Attendees like the consistency of Motorcycles on Main, since most area bike events stop setting up in the summer. We’re told that during the peak season, over 2,000 will show up;

and in the hotter months anywhere between 1,000 and 1,500.

More and more vendors set up to offer their goods, with an average of 50 participating each month now. New vendors get their first month free. And more of the local businesses are keeping their doors open late to accommodate after-hours shoppers. So not only are you seeing vendors with biker-specific goods you may be familiar with from other events; you get the opportunity to browse some independently owned boutiques, shops, and specialty stores.

Vendors can call Cori at 480-890-2613 for more information.

This is an excellent gathering for regular riders to get out for the evening… free from hype and glitz … just come out, park your bike, listen to some tunes, grab a bite & a brew, catch up with old friends, make some new ones. Some of the participating restaurants are The Grill on Main, Queens Pizzeria, Mangos Mexican Cafe, and Cucina di Vita.

So you get a good variety of dining options.

There are generally several bands playing ~ some familiar and others still to be discovered. There’s been some good planning put into this. As you walk down the street, you’ll be listening to some tunes & as you walk out of their range you’ll start hearing another as you approach.

The beer gardens along the street allow everyone to be OUT and a part of the gathering; rather than just parking and then going into a bar. Many of the restaurants offer outdoor seating or have full front windows. So, even if you are ‘indoors’ for a time, you remain part of the event and the atmosphere. It’s an excellent setting.

If you’ve been to Motorcycles on Main, then you know what we’re talking about. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you really ought to. It’s our favorite bike night. We look forward to seeing you there! B&B
